Wholeheartedly agree. University should be free, selective, and difficult. Education should never have been turned into a business model - and yes, potentially putting VAT on universities might be a plan, but the electorate wouldn’t swallow it. If you wanted other forms of education outside of Universities, then the training costs should fall to businesses in the form of apprenticeships or training contracts. Also competitive and also free for the person receiving it. We’ve allowed the concept of capitalism to weave its tendrils into all aspects of society and we’re paying the price now.
