Wholeheartedly agree - but we have the power to vote people in and out of parliament - as demonstrated by the recent defenestration of Boris Johnson. The monarch will always be the monarch. The buck stops with the top of the hierarchy.

I'm sure Jeff Bezos isn't responsible for everything that happens in Amazon warehouses. I'm sure the Pope isn't responsible for all the abuses committed by Catholic priests, but the buck always stops at the top. The monarch is the person who signs the laws into effect. They are top of the pile and if not malevolent actors, then at least willing participants. :o)

And yeah, George III was a bit of a shit. Also, mad as a box of frogs a fair bit of the time. Great play and film about it starring Nigel Hawthorne. :o)
