Woah.... slow down on the rhetoric. I'll read the Inglorious Empire and have added it to my list of things to read. There's a difference between talking on authority about a subject and what NativeFriend does - authority comes from study, hard work and knowledge. Authority is not a product of skin colour alone. You can be stupid, pig ignorant and an absolute twat regardless of your melanin levels.
I am no Churchill fan, though saying this in the UK is tantamount to saying you'd get rid of the monarchy... something which I'd also do btw, unlike the vast majority of my friends (of all skin colours). I have no idea why anyone British or otherwise would continue to support the monarchy. Churchill was a terrible human being, so entrenched in his own class that he consistently failed upwards - right up until he had some success in 1939 - 1945. I'm no fan of Churchill and i don't think success in WWII exonerates any of his previous racism, classism and geo-political blundering.
I'm not sure the white working class would see your scholarship to Cambridge as anything other than denying a rightful place to a young British kid. This is being played out in the vile policies of Farrage et al. Fuelled in part by people who come over here, steal our university placements, take advantage of our education system and then blame white people for all their problems.
I have no problems showing up - I'm showing up to discuss (and still enjoying myself btw). I just don't want to make my identity part of the discussion. We have to stick to facts, topics and ideas. Who I am is less important than what I have to say.
