Yes, and for the most part it is. The limitations of spending help keep our politics relatively small. Some of us (myself included) are a little tired of the First Past the Post system which sees a swing between Labour and Conservative with a much steeper hill to climb for other parties - we'd prefer proportional representation, but that also has drawbacks too and not everyone is on board with that plan.

Our Governments tend to be slightly more corrupt than our elections. Once a party is in power, it can often abuse the power it has with spending and other such stuff - lots of contracts were handed out to friends of ministers when we needed equipment for Covid (for example) but the mechanism by which the parties get into Government is very free and fair.
