Yes…. but if that is the case, then is it legitimate for white people to say to Black people… don’t use white words? And if not, why not? The issue here is one of power games with language and as someone who writes for a living; I think all languages belong to all people. It’s a building block of cultural understanding and policing language is usually a pre-cursor to a power grab from the political extremes.
