Yes, but women don't do the exact same work as men do they. That's why there isn't a clamour for equality across all jobs, only middle class jobs. There isn't a glut of women who want to fell trees, work on oil rigs, do construction jobs etc. These arguments apply only to jobs the middle classes want. One could (and maybe should) argue that this has less to do with equality and more to do with class structures.
No, you called him an 'evil bastard' but plenty of people have inferred he's a rapist. If you believe Heard, and Heard believes he's a rapist, then by the transient nature of belief I'd argue you share her belief. If you don't think he's a rapist, then you don't believe Heard.
Once again... let me leave you with some things that came out of the court case.
“You didn’t get punched. You got hit. I’m sorry I hit you like this but I didn’t punch you. You didn’t get f—ing decked. I f—ing was hitting you, You’re a f—ing baby. You’re such a baby,”
Tell people it was a fair fight and see what the jury and judge think. Tell the world, Johnny. Tell them, ‘I, Johnny Depp, I’m a victim too of domestic violence, and it was a fair fight,’ and see if people believe or side with you.”
(Amber Heard in recordings speaking to Depp)
BETTANY: “I’m not sure we should burn Amber, She is delightful company and pleasing on the eye. We could of course do the English course of action and perform a drowning test. Thoughts? You have a swimming pool.”
DEPP: “Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will fuck her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.”
BETTANY “My thoughts entirely. Let’s be certain before we pronounce her a witch.”
(Text exchange between Bettany and Depp disclosed during evidence)
I think there's a difference between hyperbolic statements made between friends (no matter how distasteful in nature) and direct threats made to the person. Had Depp threatened Heard that he was going to kill her and rape her corpse, we might be having a different discussion... but that's not what happened.
I won't defend the unpleasant nature of the texts because there is no defence.... but if you think those texts are more problematic than writing a newspaper article alleging things you know are substantially untrue as a tactic to get your ex-husband fired from his work - then we're talking at odds.
I am not prepared to call anyone evil. I think people are complicated. The fact that you're able to instantly attribute 'evil' to one half of the human race and not the other also tells me a lot about you rather than me.
Misandy not feminism.
