Yes. It mirrors what I’ve said elsewhere. Anyone who says they don’t see skin colour is an idiot – denial of reality isn’t an ideal position for any person to take. Such a thing is delusional.

The push should be for skin colour to be seen in the same way we see height. There are obvious differences in height and nobody considers themselves ‘height blind’. All skin colour should indicate is the level of melanin someone has in their body – same as height is a general indication of bone length.

There are certain advantages to being tall in some situations and certain advantages to being short in others. The differences generally equal out but nobody thinks about them – because the world is set up in a way that is fair and offers opportunities to both.

Across the entire human history skin colour has been an indicator of someone ‘not from the same place as you’ – that’s why there are huge differences in melanin in the first instance. As the geographic barriers break down we’re going to need a new paradigm as this one no longer works. A general protectionism rather than sharing of cultural norms and a tendency towards racial clustering (find my people) is helpful for maintaining traditions – but such people do not often identify as conservatives which I find ironic.

So no, I’m not colour blind – anyone claiming to not see race is an idiot. MLK talked about not judging someone on the colour of their skin, not ignoring it entirely while holding pre-judgments to be valid. However, such a profound statement applies equally to the entire human population. If you haven’t discovered him yet, I recommend Steve QJ for more along these lines. :o)
