You may as well have stuck your tongue out and blown a raspberry. I’m in no way a Trump supporter but the constant childish back and forth is ridiculous on both sides. You want the left to appeal to the centre ground? You want to promote tolerance? Perhaps be magnanimous in victory and demonstrate the inclusive tolerant world you want – don’t simply spew vitriol and claim enlightenment on a self constructed hillock doubling as the moral high ground.
If you want to make America a better place, this article (and the surge of others like this) are not the way forward. I’m glad Trump has gone but it’s time for grown ups to take over the democratic process. That means challenging demagoguery wherever it is – including here. The increasing polarisation and rhetoric doesn’t help society move forward…. It was a closer election than it should’ve been, so start building bridges with your fellow countrymen not burning them, because the next person to incite the right might not be such a feckless narcissist. American democracy had a close call.
