Your throw away final line undermines the problem here. In a democracy there are multiple answers and they all vie to be the answer that rolls out. If you argue it’s about championing a citizen’s rights, then great…. But you hit the stumbling block of people who believe foetuses are citizens. The best thing to do is either a) leave the question alone because it’s not for a nation to decide or b) make damn sure you’ve got a totally watertight legal argument that can’t be overturned.

You can’t argue morality with law, your belief that something is morally wrong doesn’t countermand someone else’s belief it is morally right. You have to make the case in law and you have to create sound legal judgments from them. This is a complicated case and merely insisting something is wrong because you think it’s wrong doesn’t make it so.
