Your wife was wrong — I thoroughly enjoyed this article. The moment itself exists and has been captured in time but it’s an interesting jumping off point. You have jumped off and considered the implicit guilt of the slave trade, a feminist might jump off and see her as being significantly ahead of the curve of radical feminist, a Jung practitioner might see it as an unconscious ringing endorsement of unfulfilled (or maybe fulfilled) BDSM practices.

Whether you intended it or not, this article makes me think very carefully about the lens with which we view everyday history. Our confirmation bias and our ability to extrapolate to somewhere from nowhere. This has the hallmark of a rushed, flippant comment, one filmed as a funny aside — but it opens up an endless world of possibility and discovery.

And that’s why your wife was wrong. Why your obsession is utterly acceptable and why I hope that one day Anthea Turner gets to read this. To know that something she absolutely wont’ remember from 21 years ago, brought together two stangers to write messages encouraging each other to think about thoughts. Cheers for writing. :o)
