You’re getting a lot of blowback for taking what is essentially a centre ground and compassionate position. Cancel culture is used by both the left and the right, though I’d argue the hypocrisy of using it when you’re a ‘liberal’ outweighs the conservative tendency to overreact to change. Cancelling things that are new and scary fits perfectly with what some Conservatives say they want from the world.

Meanwhile, I find it difficult to understand how people can claim to want a world filled with tolerance then attempt to force it with restrictions. There’s nothing liberal about doing that. It’s one of the reasons modern ‘leftist’ movements aren’t liberal at all. They’re playing from the right wing playbook.
