You're talking to an English Penguin, imagine having invented sports like Cricket and Rugby and then being routinely thrashed by other teams around the world at your own sports. Other cultures will come for Basketball and Baseball in the fullness of time - and I'm not convinced even American Football will be safe.
And yes, there's a lot of reactionary thin skinned responding - that's not generally how I do things. I'll argue the points I think need arguing but that's about the extent of it. Some people get very emotive about being challenged as though disagreement itself is dangerous. It isn't - and in a democracy it is dangerous to believe such a thing.
Everyone has bias, that's why I'm a Penguin. I'm fed up of people trying to pre-empt my biases by perception alone. At least as a Penguin you have to engage with what I say rather than who you think I am.
And yes, equality would be having 1. mens spaces and women's spaces (equal but different) or 2. No special spaces for either (equal but same). Equity is about considering these equal structures would disproportionately negatively affect women...... so that's my view, public spaces should be mixed in the interests of a less divided society, unless there is a definite case made that women would be unfairly disadvantaged by being forced to share a given space. :o)
